– Comments from the Chief of Soccer Operations, Leigh Bromby

Republic of Ireland U21 international forward Danny Grant will join Huddersfield Town on January 2, 2021, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract with Town until summer 2023, and the Club has the option to extend it for another year.

Grant joins the Terriers from the Bohemian of the Irish Premier League, whom he helped secure European soccer to a second-place finish in 2020 with seven goals in 17 games in the shortened season affected by COVID-19.

His performances last season earned him his first three games for his country’s Under-21 team, as well as the PFAI Young Player of the Year award.

Danny’s contract with the Dublin club ends on December 31, 2020, but Town will pay an undisclosed fee to Bohemian in lieu of training compensation.

Born in Lucan, the right-hander Grant can play any of Town’s three forwards positions. He comes in with 14 goals in just 60 appearances for his former club, which includes experience in the Europa League.

Huddersfield Town Chief of Soccer Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Danny to the Club today and to begin working with him. He is an exciting player who has the potential to really develop here.

“Danny has a lot of attributes that really suit our style of play. He is a right-footed player who can play on the front three, but is particularly adept at cutting from the left side. Just as important, you can see his enthusiasm in the games, both attacking and doing his defensive work.

“The move to the Sky Bet Championship will be significant for Danny, and he will begin that development in training with the B-team along with the first-team team. His task is to emulate players like Josh Koroma, who has really developed with us in the training fields before joining our team and having a great impact on our team and the division. “
