William Gallas has called Harry Maguire’s major move to Manchester United a “joke”, suggesting that it is “not worth that much money.”
Harry Maguire rose through the ranks with Sheffield United before continuing to impress in the Premier League with Hull City and Leicester City.
The center-back made 76 appearances for the Foxes in two seasons between 2017 and 2019. At this point he was in his career form as he also made a big impact for England at the 2018 World Cup.

Ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, he joined Man United for £ 80 million in a deal that made him the most expensive defender in the world.
He has played 73 games for United, and many of them have been as captain. He has received much criticism from fans and experts for his performances for the Red Devils since he signed in 2019.
Talking to Ladbrokes, quoted by the Daily star, Gallas claimed that Maguire is not worth anywhere near £ 80 million:
“The amount of money they spent on Harry Maguire was a joke.
“Sorry, this is a joke. It’s Manchester United and they have a lot of money to spend. But when you look at that player, he is not worth that amount of money.
“If Harry Maguire is worth £ 80 million, I don’t know how much a top William Gallas would be worth in 2020! But football has changed.
“The clubs invest a lot of money in the players. It is very difficult to understand how someone can spend so much money on a player.
“If you are a young player in the Premier League and you play very well in two or three games, your value will increase immediately. That shouldn’t be the place. You should have to play well all season for your value to increase that much. “
