As another Friday night rolls in, a little socially distant jokes could help break the monotony.
With the temperatures dropping, there is no better night to sit on the couch and watch some quality chat shows.
Here’s our latest rundown of talk show content for the week and what’s airing tonight. There should be a lot here to keep anyone busy.
- The Late Late Show, RTÉ One, 9.35pm
Before Ryan finishes the Late Late of 2020, he has one last special for us.
With the usual charity Grafton Street street music session not taking place this year, the people of Montrose have taken the reins.
In aid of the Simon Community, the Late Late Show will hold a musical event in the studio to recreate the annual busk indoors. Check this list twice for your favorite Irish musician as it is long.
Join Ryan in the studio and through Zoom will be Glen Hansard, U2 Bond and The edge, Imelda May, Hozier, John Sheahan, Finbar Furey, Shane MacGowan, Danny O’Reilly, Roisin O, Declan O’Rourke, Lisa O’Neill, and Kodaline’s Steve Garrigan.
Everyone involved is expected to act out and talk about the busk’s memories of the past few years and the importance of the Simon Community’s work.
“This will certainly be a night to remember with the best Irish talent in a room gathered for some incredible performances,” Tubridy said.
“In return, our friends here are asking viewers to dig deep to donate to the Simon community and help our currently homeless brothers and sisters to get off the streets, to be safe, to be warm, to be treated with dignity. and decency and, ultimately, to get the kind of safe housing everyone deserves. “
Ryan will also interview special guest Philip Powell, who was staying at a hostel when he became friends with Glen Hansard and became a lead actor on the Grafton Street busk. Philip will talk about his experiences of being homeless on and off for two decades.

- The Graham Norton Show, BBC One, tonight, 10:45 pm
Unlike Tubridy, Graham will return to our screens for a New Years Eve special alongside Tom Hanks, Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Nish Kumar and Jessica Chastain.
But tonight, you’ll have to settle for George Clooney, Michael Sheen and David Tennant, Viola Davis, Daisy May Cooper, and Vanessa Kirby.
Michael Ball and Alfie Boe will perform a rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Across the pond
Joe and Jill Biden sat down with Stephen Colbert for their first joint interview since last month’s presidential election.
The future first lady said she was shocked by the tone of the recent attacks on her doctorate, after an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal asked her to remove Dr. from her degree (she earned a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware in 2007).
When Colbert asked Joe what he thought on the matter, he said, “I’ve been holding back on my Irish character for a long time.” Then we will take it as a compliment …

Colbert also spoke to Whoopi Goldberg about the third installment of Sister Act. 27 years later, the nuns are getting another chance, but Goldberg kept quiet about possible plot lines.
If you’re still doing some last minute Christmas shopping, Jimmy Kimmel has the gift for you. The mayor of Atlantic City is auctioning off a chance to blow up one of Donald Trump’s old casinos. Whoever donates the most money (to charity) will be able to press the trigger next month. Kimmel says that a much simpler way to get a Trump casino to implode is to put Trump back in charge of it again.

Kimmel also spoke with Viola Davis about her new movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and her performance alongside the late Chadwick Boseman. And for the season that’s in it, here’s Alanis Morissette performing Happy Xmas (War Is Over).
Before the release of his new album today, Paul McCartney told Jimmy Fallon that it happened while he had some free time during the lockdown. It was only after finishing eleven songs that he thought “this could be an album”.

Graham Norton makes another appearance on the list, this time as a guest of Fallon. Speaking of filming his show during the pandemic, Graham said nothing fills the void of his missing audience (not even last season’s laugh track, Shudder).
And if not, if Santa Claus is a savage, he is. This Megan Thee Stallion remix is naturally not for the kids in your life.

Despite being released 26 years ago, Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is currently at the top of the charts around the world.
Here she is in 1994 talking about her new “lively Christmas number” before it became a staple of the season.
