Taoiseach Micheál Martin is receiving an “immediate” Covid-19 test and limiting his contacts after attending a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, who tested positive for Covid-19.
Martin attended a meeting of the European Council last Thursday and Friday with Macron.
The Taosieach is expected to obtain their test result later and has postponed the scheduled commitments for this afternoon.
A spokesman for Martin told the Irish Mirror: “The Taoiseach is limiting their contacts this afternoon following the news of the positive test result from Macron and we are going to do so immediately and that should be reversed in the next few hours.

“So we should have the result this afternoon, in the meantime he is limiting his contacts.
“There were some commitments that we will postpone this afternoon, they have been delayed.
“He limits himself to making calls, but he does not meet anyone and limits his contacts until the result arrives.”
