José Mourinho criticized Jurgen Klopp’s exuberant behavior on the touchline after Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool at Anfield.
The Reds returned to the top of the Premier League table at Spurs’ expense after Roberto Firmino’s late header.
Tottenham appeared to secure a point after Son Heung-Min canceled Mohamed Salah’s opener.
Mourinho and Klopp had words on the touchline at full time and the Portuguese later suggested that he would not get away with his counterpart’s actions.
He told Amazon Prime: “By the way, if I behave the same way on the sideline as him, I don’t have a chance to stay there. I go out a minute later.
“Come on, is that animated? Is that animated?”
When asked if the German had overstepped, he added: “I say it for some reason, I am different. That is all I say, and that is sad.”
On what was said after the final whistle, Mourinho replied: “I told him that the best team lost. He did not agree, but that is his opinion.
Klopp was taken aback when Mourinho’s comments were made to him.
He said: “So my English is worse than I thought. I thought he told me the best team lost and nothing about my behavior on the touchline, so I have no idea what it is.”
