Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man’s death in Co Leitrim accident

A man in his 70s died after a fatal single-vehicle traffic collision in Co Leitrim.

Gardaí is currently at the scene of the collision, which took place around 11 a.m. Tuesday in Killaneen, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

The man suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to Cavan General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The man was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle involved. An autopsy is scheduled to take place at a later date.

Forensic collision investigators are examining the scene and the road is closed with local detours in place.

Gardaí is calling for witnesses to the collision to come forward, along with road users who may have camera or dash-cam footage and who were traveling in the area between 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. this morning.
