GARDAÍ IS CALLING for information after a cash theft in transit in Dublin today.
Around 12:45 p.m. M., A staff member carrying cash was picking up a box of cash from a retail location on Thomas Street.
As he was returning to a security van, a lone man armed with a hammer accosted him and threatened him.
The man took possession of the cash box before sensing the scene on a bicycle. An undisclosed sum of cash was taken.
No one was physically injured in the raid.
During follow-up consultations, a burning empty cash box was located on St Kevin’s Avenue, off New Street at Dublin 8.
The fire was extinguished and the scene and the cash box have been preserved for a technical and forensic examination.
Gardaí on Kevin Street is asking for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly attractive to motorists who were on Thomas Street or St Kevin’s Avenue / New Street between 12.30pm and 2.30pm today to check the video footage (including dash cam) recorded in the area and make it available to the researchers.
