The public has been warned not to participate in a challenge on social media after a woman was hospitalized for several days after performing it.
‘Ghosting’ asks people to lie down on a road with a sheet over them in an attempt to stop oncoming traffic, Gardaí said.
“This activity is extremely irresponsible and represents a grave danger to those involved in the ‘ghost’ and motorists,” said a Gardaí statement.
Gardaí highlighted a recent incident in the south of Ireland in which a young girl suffered “a series of minor injuries” while carrying out this ‘trend’.
The emergency services took the young woman to the hospital where she is being treated for injuries sustained to her back, torso and ankle.
An Garda Síochána is urging people not to participate in this social media trend, which they say has been circulating online.

Gardaí is particularly attractive to parents to educate their children on the dangers of participating in such activity and to highlight the importance of being seen while using the Irish roads.
