A young woman from South Africa was arrested after Gardai seized drugs worth almost 200,000 euros at Dublin airport yesterday.

The proceeds seized 3 kg of the illegal crystalline methamphetamine during a routine search on Sunday.

Agents searched the registered suitcase, where the drugs were discovered, of a woman who had just landed in the capital on a flight from Dubai.

The large amount of Crystal Meth is said to be worth around € 180,000.

The arrested woman in her 20s is currently being held at Ballymun Garda Station.

A spokesman for the Treasury said “investigations are ongoing” after the great discovery.

He added: “These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting drug smuggling.

“If companies or members of the public have any information about smuggling, they can contact the Department of the Treasury in confidence at the toll-free number 1800 295 295.”
