Ireland weather: Eireann forecast met as experts warn of ‘heavy storm’ and latest snowfall at Dublin Airport

Met Eireann has forecast a mainly dry and windy day on Monday with good sunshine and occasional rain, as other experts warn of a storm brewing for the country.

The National Forecaster predicts “wet and windy weather Tuesday night through Wednesday,” but other forecasters are warning of “very strong winds” that will hit the southwest and west.

The Arpege model shows the storm hitting the west, while other models show the storm moving further east and hitting the south and east of the country.

Carlow Weather said there is a “possibility of a nasty streak Tuesday night through Wednesday.”

They said: “However, there is still a lot of uncertainty on the track and intensity. Latest maximum wind speed charts along with GFS pressure chart here.

“Along with the risk of strong winds is the risk of heavy rains, but again there is uncertainty here. Stay tuned for the weather forecasts for the next few days.

“Also of interest are the GFS charts showing the risk of colder weather on Christmas Day.

“There is still a long way to go, but the last three GFS updates have shown a risk of cold air beating down on Ireland by Christmas Day. I think a nice cool cool day would be nice.”

And heading into Christmas Day, leading sportsbook Paddy Power seems to think there is a decent chance that it will snow at Dublin Airport at 4/1 odds on a white Christmas.

Here’s what it looks like tonight and the rest of the week according to Met Eireann:

monday night: “It will remain mostly dry tonight with good clear periods. Some patches of fog may form with light to moderate southerly winds. Lower temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees.”

Tuesday: “Dry morning with good periods of sunshine and only isolated rains. It gets more cloudy at night. Temperatures higher of 8 or 9 degrees in mainly moderate southerly winds. Wet and windy weather is expected Tuesday night and until Wednesday. Generally unstable with rain and rain. Windy too, but relatively mild for the time of year. “

Wednesday: “Humid and windy to begin with. Strong, gusty winds mainly from the south will drift to the southwest during the afternoon and gradually diminish. Rain will clear to the northeast with scattered showers coming from the Atlantic. Higher temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees “.
