Gardai ‘patient’ caught a driver and passenger at a checkpoint after the couple were too cold to walk.

Gardai in Tipperary was conducting a checkpoint when a car entered a garage yard.

The driver and passenger quickly left the car while gardai waited patiently.

A few minutes later, the couple returned to the car after deciding that it was too cold to walk and drove the car.

The car was stopped and impounded without taxes or insurance.

Garda Tipperary’s Facebook page posted: “Gardaí of Tipperary Town was conducting a check when this car came to a sudden stop in a garage yard.

The driver and passenger left quickly while Gardai waited patiently.

“Both the driver and passenger decided it was too cold to walk and returned minutes later and drove the car.

“The car was stopped and impounded without taxes or insurance.”

It comes when gardai has issued a warning, as a delivery scam has threatened to ruin some people’s Christmas.

A Garda spokesperson said: “As many people continue to receive packages during the Christmas period, An Garda Síochána would like to remind the public to beware of unsolicited text messages and emails warning of a package awaiting delivery and they urge customers to click on various links.

“Gardaí has ​​recently received numerous reports of a scam where consumers receive multiple messages allegedly from An Post related to a package awaiting delivery and advising people to click the link for more details.

“While this particular scam involves An Post, Gardaí would like to advise the public to be on the lookout for any emails or texts that involve any organization.”

An Garda Síochána advises the public never to click on an unsolicited email or text message, never reveal personal data such as your PIN, card numbers or passwords, and never respond to such emails or text messages.






Instead, Gardaí would advise the public to take a screenshot of the text / email, delete it, and report it to the local Garda station.
