Met Eireann warned of storm-like weather just days away in an updated forecast.
Tuesday will start to dry out, but as the day progresses, the clouds thicken with heavy rain.
Tuesday night, it will be very humid and very windy weather is expected as deep low pressure sweeps across the country from the south.
There will be an increased risk of flooding, according to Met Eireann.
Wednesday will begin with strong winds and rain overnight that clears up to scattered stormy showers with a continuing risk of flooding.
It comes when heavy rains, thunderstorms and floods will hit the country this weekend.

Met Eireann has predicted that they will last until at least Wednesday.
The strip of rain will come tonight.
One forecaster said: “Most areas will be dry today with bright spells of winter sunshine and well-scattered rains, mostly in the western and northwestern counties.
“However, clouds and rain will reach the extreme southwest later tonight. Highest temperatures will range from 6 ° C to 10 ° C seasonally, with light to moderate winds from west to southwest.
“It is cold early tonight with frost under a clear sky. Although it will become milder, it will become humid and quite windy as well, as a band of stormy rain continues to rise from the southwest with fresh to strong southeast winds.
“Some lighter periods in the south and west for later. The lowest temperatures will range between 0 ° C and 5 ° C, and the coldest in the north and east.
“More pulses of heavy and sometimes stormy rain advancing from the southwest early Sunday with spot flooding.”
They added: “Some sunny or bright spells later, but also occasional showers, especially in the southern and western coastal counties.
“Humid and windy, with fresh, gusty south winds. The highest temperatures will range between 8 ° C and 12 ° C, the best values further south.
“Stormy rains or longer periods of rain overnight on Sunday, with moderate to cool, gusty southerly winds. Lower temperatures 5 ° C to 8 ° C.”

The forecaster said: “Monday will be windy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered, frequent and sometimes heavy rains in the southern and western counties.
“Most areas will be dry with light southerly winds and gusts of sunshine Tuesday, although scattered rains will affect the southern and western counties.
“Later in the day, the cloud will thicken over Munster with heavy rains moving toward the extreme southwest into the evening, along with cooling winds from the southeast.
“Possible strong winds to start with overnight rain clearing Wednesday morning. Sunny spells and scattered showers soon after.”
