Irish Rail apologized after a man allegedly exposed himself to a woman on a train.

Limerick podcaster Sophie La Touche criticized Irish Rail after she reported the incident to a staff member on the train.

I was traveling at 12.50 p.m. M. From Limerick to Heuston Station in Dublin last Thursday when a man sitting in the aisle across from her started talking to her.

“I was uncomfortable. Then I pulled up the hood and put the headphones on. “She then allegedly moved to expose herself.” She had the buttons on her jeans open and she was touching herself in front of me, “Ms. La Touche said.

The man then followed her to another car, but after she started talking to another passenger, he returned to the car that La Touche had left.

He spoke to an Irish Rail employee on the train. “He said, ‘The only thing I can suggest is that when we get to Heuston, I can take the guards there and you can make a statement.’

Irish Rail said the train host offered to involve the Gardaí, but Ms La Touche did not want to do so at the time.

It said the man was “observed and kept in a separate carriage from the customer for the remainder of the trip, and no further incidents involving the man were observed.” This is “in line” with the formation of Irish Rail, he claimed.

La Touche said she was “shocked” to meet the man at the station gates earlier that day at Heuston Station.

She said the man was “just released” and it wasn’t until she expressed her concerns with the station staff that they held him back so she could get the Luas.

Irish Rail said the train’s host had contacted Heuston prior to arrival, that the station manager and security staff met with the train, and that La Touche made an offer of Garda assistance and declined. .

But when he finally left the station, La Touche said the man was allowed to leave as well, and that he was right next to her when she left.

Irish Rail admitted that the man headed to the front of the station “incorrectly” and a member of staff “stepped in to involve security again when he was seen approaching the Luas”.

A Garda investigation has been launched and no arrests have yet been made. Irish Rail said it is “very sorry” that Ms La Touche experienced “such a distressing incident on board” and that it will help Gardaí.
