Pedestrian (50 years old) dies after being hit by articulated truck in Cork

A PEDESTRIAN HAS died after being hit by an articulated truck in Cork this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4.50 pm at the junction of North Ring Road and Old Youghal Road, outside Mayfield Business Park.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be performed.

Forensic collision investigators are conducting an examination of the scene.

Currently, the road is closed with local detours. Motorists are asked to avoid the area whenever possible.
