Billionaire businessman JP McManus has called it “unusual” for Limerick to play Waterford in the Irish final.
Limerick man, racehorse owner wished his team good luck and apologized to Waterford for not being able to support them this year.
He added that Limerick missed the Liam McCarthy Cup last year and that he is sure they will bring it home this Sunday.
In a video posted on Twitter, McManus said: “First of all, I would like to congratulate Limerick on their great victory in the Munster final and also on winning the league title.
“We’re going for the big one on Sunday and we felt a little lonely without Liam McCarthy last year, so I hope and know they’ll bring him back next Sunday.
“Beating Waterford in all of Ireland sounds strange and a little unusual. I don’t think it ever happened.
“Waterford are in All-Ireland for one reason only, because they deserve it. Now as a Limerick person if Limerick weren’t in it we would be cheering on Waterford, sorry Waterford not this year, this year is Limericks. Thank you.”
McManus is a huge GAA fan and in 2018, following Limerick’s first win across Ireland since 1973, he donated € 3.2 million to the organization.
This was divided into a donation of € 100,000 for each county which was then divided equally between the clubs.
