Celtic has given manager Neil Lennon their public endorsement for the second week in a row.
More protests followed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home with St Johnstone as Celtic went five games without a win, but Lennon will remain in command.
A statement from the club read: “In light of ongoing speculation regarding the position of our soccer coach, Neil Lennon, the Celtic Football Club board of directors wishes to make clear its continued support for Neil and his backroom team. .
“The board recognizes and understands the importance of winning the league championship this season and that, as Neil himself has made clear, recent performances and results have been disappointing.
“The board is committed to bringing success to Celtic fans.”
Earlier today, Lennon vowed to keep trying to bring Celtic back to life until told otherwise after his latest setback.
The champions fell 13 points behind the Rangers after the weekend, but when asked if the club’s support could change after the last slip, Lennon said: “I don’t think so and I don’t want it to change, I want to keep working with good people behind me, we just need players to get back to the levels they were at.
“Maybe we look at training? We look at our routines? We look at our setups? All of these things, we have analyzed to death.
“Players also have to look at themselves and say, ‘We are better than this.’ We need to find a solution as quickly as possible.”
