A woman died in a car accident this morning.
Two other women and a child, a boy, were taken to hospital after the terror collision on the N5 in Strokestown, Co Roscommon.
The three-way accident occurred between Scramogue Cross and Termonbarry around 8 a.m. Friday morning.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed for a post mortem examination.
A woman in her 40s was taken to Tullamore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Another woman in her 40s and a child were also taken to Ballinasloe Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The road has been closed for a Garda forensic team to conduct an examination of the scene.
There are local deviations.
Gardai in Castlerea is asking witnesses to this collision and road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) traveling in the area at this time so that these footage are available to them.
