A woman has recounted her horror of nearly being run over trying to escape from a scoundrel who was following her in North Dublin earlier this week.
The local, who was alone, said she noticed the man walking behind her, passed her and disappeared before realizing he was walking behind her once more.
She said the sick 6-foot pervert, who was wearing all black, including a cap and mask while carrying a backpack, started running after her as she started running down the dark path.
The woman had to run to the road to stop oncoming traffic to prevent him from following her by yelling at her before being told that “I just wanted to meet her.”
And now she’s warning others to “make friends” and “don’t wear headphones” if they’re walking alone or they might not be as lucky as her.
She said: “Women in North Dublin need to be careful when walking alone. I was coming from work around 7pm and a man dressed completely in black started to follow me.
“He ran past me and I thought he had walked, but I turned around minutes later and he was behind me again.
“I ran down the rest of the road and turned to cross at a stoplight. Then he ran after me, at which point I turned around and stood on the road.”
The woman said she didn’t care about the oncoming traffic and thought it was the only way he would stop chasing after her.
“I yelled at him to ‘stop following me’ as loud as I could, he just said ‘he wanted to meet me’.
“I just yelled at him again, at which point a car stopped and came to my aid. Then it ran away.”
The distraught woman said it was not safe for women to walk after dark.

She warned, “Please keep your sanity with you when you go out. I was not listening to the headphones, thank goodness. From now on, I will carry a torch just to try and stay safe. Try to meet up with a friend if they are also walking afterwards. dusk. It’s really not safe. “
