Meanwhile, David E Kelley, who wrote and produced the show, told TVLine that he is not going to rule out the possibility of a second season.

Some fans have speculated that a second season is unlikely as it is based on a book, You Should Have Known Him by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which does not have a sequel.
However, the show already differs significantly from its source material, and Big Little Lies, which shares cast and crew members as well as plot points, with The Undoing had a second season despite being based on a book. without sequel.
Fans have taken to Twitter to beg HBO for a renewal, with one comparing it to Big Little Lies.
