Here’s what you can expect from Operation Fanacht in the coming weeks;
- Within the framework of Operation Fanacht, more than 100 checkpoints will be conducted daily on major routes supported by a mobile checkpoint program with a focus on inter-county travel guidelines.
- Static checkpoints will operate during off-peak hours: 10am to 5pm. M. At 4 p. M. And from 7 p. M. A 9 p. M.
- Fixed checkpoints on motorway / expressway routes will no longer be in place.
- The high-visibility patrols will take place in key cities, urban locations, and retail in the lead up to Christmas. There will also be patrols that will focus on the nighttime economy. In this sense, An Garda Síochána will keep in close contact with retail and authorized establishments.
- Controls in facilities licensed under Operation Navigation will increase again.
- Community engagement activity will continue to focus on the vulnerable and those who feel isolated, particularly during the Christmas season.

Commissioner Drew Harris said: “Throughout the pandemic, health advice and regulations have been followed very well by the public. It is critical that this continues at Level Three.
