Shoppers have been queuing for hours as non-essential retail services return this morning.
Customers were seen outside Penneys stores in the early hours of Tuesday when the Level Five restrictions were officially lifted.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin confirmed last week that we would be returning to a modified version of Level Three.
This would allow hairdressers, gyms and all retailers to open their doors once again.
And one of the most anticipated reopens was that of the Penneys clothing store.
RTE News reports that some customers outside of the Mary Street location had been queuing since 4:30 a.m.
It comes after Penneys confirmed last week that its Irish stores will be open until at least 9pm Monday through Friday throughout December, with some opening even later.
CEO Paul Marchant said: “We are delighted to reopen our stores in Ireland on December 1 with longer shopping hours to give our customers more time to safely shop for holiday.
“We have everything our customers have come to expect this season from Penneys, including our famous Christmas jumpers, holiday pajamas and much, much more. All of our extensive security measures remain in place to help ensure that shopping at Penneys is a safe and enjoyable experience for everybody. . “
