France showed their strength in depth when they managed a 36-5 victory over Italy to prepare for a final with England in the Fall Nations Cup.

On the night they remembered Christophe Dominici, who died at the age of 48 this week, France looked to a new generation as a side with 13 changes that made light work of the Italians.

The visitors led briefly, climbing 5-3 when Carlo Canna ran on a try in the 24th minute, but they were Italy’s only points on the night.

Jonathan Danty got his first try for France in the 35th minute after a heavy scrum, but the full attack was reserved for the second half.

Gavin Villiere scored on his debut with a try in the 55th minute before two of the most experienced players on the program, Baptiste Serin and Teddy Thomas, scored two minutes apart to put the game past Italy.

Sekou Macalou, who returned to the team for the first time since 2017, then rounded things out with an 80-minute try when France returned to the top of Group B, heading for the final on December 6.
