There have been seven more deaths and 243 additional confirmed Covid-19 cases in Ireland today.
Today’s figures bring the total death toll from the new coronavirus in Ireland to 2,050 since the start of the pandemic.
In total, there have been 71,942 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, 254 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 31 are in the ICU, with 20 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
Of the cases reported today, 137 are men and 104 are women, with 71% of those infected under 45 years of age.
The average age is 32 years.
In all, 91 of today’s cases were confirmed in Dublin, 26 in Donegal, 18 in Cork, 16 in Waterford, 15 in Limerick, while the remaining 77 cases are spread across 18 other counties.
The country’s 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants now falls below 100 at 93.7.
Donegal is the only county in the Republic that exceeds 200 cases per 100,000, with a figure of 215.5, while Louth (191.6) and Limerick (170.9) have the second and third highest figures in the country , respectively.
At the other end of the scale, Wexford continues to have the lowest incidence in Ireland with just 30.7 cases per 100,000 people, and Leitrim is not far behind at 31.2.
Dublin’s incidence rate stands at 106.1, while Cork is below the national average at 75.7.
