GALWAY have named a team unchanged for Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semifinal with Limerick.
Coach Shane O’Neill has given a vote of confidence to the team that defeated Tipperary in the quarterfinals last weekend.
It is a team that has 11 survivors from the 2018 SHC All-Ireland final between Limerick and Galway.
The Limerick team contains 13 from the starting lineup from that final two years ago; details here
The changes from that tie are goalkeeper Eanna Murphy, defenders Fintan Burke and Shane Cooney and cornerback Brian Concannon.
While the staff hasn’t changed that much, there are a number of positional changes since 2018: Joseph Cooney from offense to defense, Aidan Harte from side to corner, Padraic Mannon to midfield from winger and David Burke selected as winger.
However, the starting positions won’t be realized until 4:00 PM on Sunday, when James Owens begins the All-Ireland SHC semi-final.
Galway has scored 6-70 and conceded 2-65 in their three games to the semi-final with matches against Wexford, Kilkenny and Tipperary.
Joe Canning is the leading scorer at 0-37 (28 free, 3 lines, 2’65). On the other hand, Brian Concannon has scored 2-5 and Cathal Mannion 1-6.
