A 13-year-old Dublin schoolboy, who made headlines earlier this year when his rap music video ‘Noggin’ went viral on social media, has partnered with gardaí to promote the importance of following Covid-19 guidelines. .
Ste Brown, also known as The Brown Lad, has released a new track and music video called ‘Let’s Do It For Each Other’ to emphasize the importance for teens of wearing masks and social distancing.
The project was developed as part of a garda community policing initiative, led by Dún Laoghaire Garda Marion Power.
Its chief superintendent, Matthew Nyland, asked Garda Power to lead the project.
He wanted to work proactively with the community and immediately thought of Ste Brown.
He silently contacted Ste’s mother and her school because she did not want to create a situation where Ste could be intimidated or criticized for an association with Gardaí.
Garda Power met Ste and four weeks later he had his new rap track ready to go.

Last week, the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dún Laoghaire got the recording time at the Button Factory, and Ste recorded his track there.
Ste and 13 third-year students from The Holy Child Sallynoggin, where Ste goes to school, shot the video at a local playground last Monday.
Garda Power has worked in community policing in Dún Laoighaire for 15 years and said she never met anyone like Ste: “it would really touch your heart.”
