Welcome to the Dublin Live blog, where we will talk about all things Covid-19 and the lockdown throughout the day.
The government will meet once again at 2pm before going on television tonight to make a big announcement before The Late Late Toy Show.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin will address the nation after the Cabinet meeting to make a final decision on exiting the Level Five blockade.
The country is expected to enter a modified Tier Three form, which will allow hair salons, gyms and nonessential retail stores to reopen next week.
And last night it emerged that pubs and restaurants will definitely not be limited to take-out at Christmas.
Government leaders have told Dublin Live that they are not following all of NPHET’s advice.
A member of the select committee of the most important members of the government told Dublin Live as they left the high-stakes meeting: “It’s not going to be NPHET, NPHET, NPHET.
Dublin Live met with members of each of the three parties, Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and the Greens as they left the government buildings just before 10 p.m., when the Cabinet Special Subcommittee on Covid ended for the night.
The meeting took much longer than expected and was eventually called off, with the entire cabinet in attendance tomorrow to make the final decision.
But Dublin Live made clear that the austere advice of NPHET’s medical hawks will not be taken in its entirety.
One of the main members of the Government said: “It was a long and exhausting meeting, four and a half hours, hell, and the Cabinet will decide in the last instance.”

That final decision will be made when the full Cabinet meeting is held around lunchtime today.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin will then present the new plans to the country in a speech that is expected to be held tonight.
