More than 300 civil servants have worked reduced hours but received their salaries in full.
345 Property Registration Authority (PRA) employees have worked reduced hours through Level 5 restrictions.
The PRA said in a statement that measures were taken to stop the spread of Covid-19 and are continually being reviewed.
Speaking about work practices, Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry said that the problem is not the fault of the staff but the general situation that needs to be addressed.
“Obviously they are available for work and I am sure they would rather be at work,” said Mr. MacSharry, “but if they are not in a position to be remotely enabled by the administration and the state,
“If they are not in a position to be facilitated in the physical building, then it is a general management failure and that is what needs to be addressed.
During the summer, Fianna Fáil’s TD Marc MacSharry was criticized for saying that some public sector workers were using the pandemic as an excuse to “lie on the couch and look at boxes.”
However, in this case, MacSharry said that the PRA staff should not be blamed, but should only be paid full pay for completing all of their hours.
The PRA said normal staff attendance will resume once the Level 5 restrictions are lifted.
