Three deaths and 335 new confirmed cases in Ireland

HEALTH OFFICIALS have confirmed that three other people have died with Covid-19 in Ireland.

It means that the number of people in this country with coronavirus who have sadly died is now 2,036.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has also said that another 335 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in Ireland to 71,494.

Of the cases reported today;

  • 162 are men / 171 are women
  • 64% are under 45
  • The average age is 35 years.
  • 119 in Dublin, 29 in Kilkenny, 23 in Limerick, 20 in Donegal, 19 in Tipperary, 19 in Cork and the remaining 106 spread over 19 other counties.

As of 2:00 p.m. today, 246 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 35 are in the ICU. 15 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

Health officials, including Medical Director Dr. Tony Holohan, are due to brief government leaders tonight as the country prepares to exit Level 5.

NPHET met yesterday and finalized its advice to the government that the subcommittee on Covid-19 will consider before a full cabinet meeting on Friday.

The Government has already indicated that a gradual approach will be taken to ease restrictions and reopen society in the run-up to Christmas.

A full cabinet meeting will be held tomorrow and a national speech from Taoiseach Micheál Martin is expected around 6pm.
