Keelin Shanley, Graham Norton and Professor Luke O’Neill were among the winning authors of this year’s An Post Irish Book Awards, which were held virtually at rte.ie/culture. Read the list of winners and watch the ceremony below, and see a gallery of the winning authors above.

Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Dara McAnulty and Sinéad Burke claimed victory with their debut books, while the Novel of the Year award was won by Donal Ryan, for Strange flowers.

The An Post Irish Book Awards, first awarded in 2006, showcase a diverse mix of exceptional writing from new and established writers across sixteen categories, and this year’s awards ceremony is held online due to the global pandemic. . The awards are Ireland’s largest literary celebration, championing everything from novels and non-fiction to poetry, short stories and the Irish language.

The absolute winner of the An Post Irish Book of the Year will be announced on a television program, hosted by Miriam O Callaghan, on RTÉ One at 10:15 PM on Thursday 10 December.
