A woman was arrested in Switzerland after an alleged terrorist attack at a store left two people injured.
Two women were attacked at the Manor department store in the southern city of Lugano, one was grabbed by the throat and the other stabbed in the neck.
One of the victims is said to have suffered serious but non-fatal injuries in the incident Tuesday afternoon, while the other suffered minor injuries.
Police said they knew the 28-year-old suspect after an investigation into jihadist terrorism in 2017.
So far, Switzerland has escaped the kind of large-scale jihadist attacks that led France and Germany to push for stricter controls at the European Union’s borders.
It followed incidents in which suspected Islamist militants killed eight people in Paris, Nice and Vienna in one month.
Switzerland has identified hundreds of residents considered a threat, as well as militants who have traveled to war zones.
In September, a man described as a prominent Islamist militant in Switzerland was sentenced to 50 months in prison for his ties to the Islamic State.
Federal prosecutors have said the fatal stabbing of a Portuguese in September in the western town of Morges was still under investigation for a possible terrorist motive.
A Swiss-Turkish citizen has been arrested.
