PRESIDENT-ELECTED JOE Biden says his national security team will lead the way by reflecting the fact that “America is back” on the world stage.

During a speech today in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said his team would “embody my core beliefs that America is stronger when it works with its allies.”

In unfolding his national security team options, including senior positions for the state department and department of homeland security, Biden said the nominees show “new experience and leadership, new thinking and perspective, and tireless faith in the promise of United States”.

Many diplomats have chosen to retire or leave the foreign service, given limited prospects for advancement under an administration that they believed did not value their expertise.

Biden said he was pleased that his administration was officially allowed to begin the transition process to complete a new government.

He said receiving the transition state known as “verification” would allow his team to “prepare to meet the challenges at hand” in the transfer of power from the Trump administration to his.

On Monday night, the General Services Administration “determined” that Biden is the apparent winner of this month’s presidential election.

Biden spoke while laying out his options for filling the top national security positions in his cabinet, including secretary of state, national security adviser and a new cabinet-level position dedicated to climate change.

He said he hoped his nominees would receive a speedy confirmation process.
