Six deaths and 226 new confirmed cases in Ireland

HEALTH OFFICIALS have confirmed that six other people with Covid-19 have died in Ireland.

The number of people in this country with coronavirus who have now died is 2,028.

A further 226 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in Ireland to 70,930.

As of 2:00 p.m. today, 292 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized, of which 36 were in the ICU. There were 18 additional hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

The national incidence rate of 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants is 107.8. The highest rate per 100,000 is in Donegal (240) and the lowest is in Wexford (36.7).

Of the cases reported today:

  • 115 are men and 109 are women
  • 56% are under 45 years old
  • The average age is 42 years.
  • 64 cases are in Dublin, 41 in Donegal, 23 in Tipperary, 13 in Limerick, 12 in Louth, 12 in Wicklow and the remaining 61 are in 16 other counties
