Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that Ireland’s level five is working, but declined to confirm whether the pubs will reopen.
Government leaders will meet tonight to discuss how the country will leave the blockade on December 1.
The leader of Fianna Fail said that we had made significant progress, with our Covid-19 rates among the lowest in Europe.
And he indicated that a decision will likely be made on whether the pubs can reopen when the government meets Tuesday morning.
Martin told reporters: “The Irish people have made a lot of sacrifices, this Level Five has been very difficult. We understand that, but the good news is that what they are doing is working.”
“We are managing our hospitals in terms of number of ICUs and hospitalizations, we have kept our schools open, thanks to everyone involved, it is not a minor achievement, and construction has remained open. We are building houses all over the country, that is. important.”
“His work matters has been effective, we just have to keep doing it.”
But he added: “The arrival of the vaccine is not a time to relax, it is a time to double down. We can see the horizon ahead in terms of the vaccine.
“I spoke this morning with the chair of the vaccine working group, they hope to have strategies for the government by December 11 in terms of how we will distribute the vaccines.
“It will take a national effort in terms of getting the vaccine out safely.”
On the prospect of pub reopening, he told the Irish Mirror: “I have not made any specific comment in relation to any specific sector or specific area or subsector, which will be an area for the government to consider.
“No decisions have been made yet, the three party leaders will still meet tonight and the government will meet tomorrow morning.”
