THE VATICAN is ready to investigate how the Pope’s official Instagram account had ‘liked’ a racy photo of a Brazilian model.
The ‘like’ was seen earlier this week, but has since been removed, and the Catholic News Agency reported that an investigation is ongoing.
The photo in question was published by Natalia Garibotto and showed the model dressed in lingerie that looks like a school uniform.
Garibotto (@nataagataa) has 2.4 million followers on Instagram and has been trying to make hay with papal advertising.
She reposted the image on Twitter saying “at least I’m going to heaven,” while her management company also said that she had “received the OFFICIAL BLESSING OF THE POPE.”
A Vatican spokesman told The Guardian: “We can exclude that the ‘like’ comes from the Holy See, and it has turned to Instagram for explanations.”
