Gordon Elliott admitted that Tiger Roll’s best days may be behind him and that the future of the double Grand National winner is uncertain after he was stopped at the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase in Cheltenham on Friday.
The performance led Ladbrokes to knock Tiger Roll out of the Glenfarclas Chase bets at the Cheltenham Festival, giving him a 4-1 shot.

The coach was unable to offer any excuse for the lifeless display, with the ten-year-old traveling without his usual enthusiasm under Robbie Power, and it seems likely that the connections will make a decision about the ten-year-old’s career after assessing the situation. when I come back. home.
Elliott said: “It was disappointing. He never really traveled or jumped. He’s not getting any younger. Maybe his best days are behind us. We’ll see how he is doing, but in his last two races he doesn’t look like the horse he was the year. past. We’ll see how he is. There’s no excuse, maybe he’s just getting old. “

Tiger Roll had been warm in the paddock before the race and fell to the back of the field, having initially run in the middle of the pack.
“It’s not ideal, but there’s no point making excuses,” Elliott said of the preliminaries. “He was hit after two hurdles.”
Elliott added: “I spoke to Robert and he said he never traveled. We will take him home and see how he is doing. If he never does anything else, he owes us nothing.”
Power, who had his first ride aboard the Cheltenham Festival icon, said: “He never traveled and he never had a cut in his fences. I picked him up because he had no rhythm.”
The rating is ‘completely crazy’ – O’Leary
The future of Tiger Roll will be discussed by Elliott and the O’Leary brothers of owner Gigginstown House Stud, with Eddie O’Leary, who runs Michael’s operation, calling the race “very poor.”
O’Leary added that Tiger Roll’s 171 score would have to be re-evaluated for the handicap saying it was “completely insane” that the ten-year-old had the mark he has.
“I hope he’s okay and he’s obviously disappointing, but I’d say maybe age is catching up,” O’Leary said. “It has been a very bad streak and we will have to see how he is. We will recover him and see how he is, but we have to readjust his rating because it is crazy. It has always been crazy but now it is total crazy.
“He looked very happy and Gordon was happy with him there, the fire still seemed to be burning. But if he ran like that again you would have to think about pulling stumps.”

Much of the pre-race talk had focused on the Tiger Roll vs. Easysland clash, which prevailed when the pair reunited in March.
Easysland could only take fourth place on Friday after making mistakes during the Kingswell Theater won race, and Ladbrokes cut it down to 7-4 (from 11-8) for the Cheltenham Festival.
Jason Kiely, head traveling coach David Cottin, said: “He was carrying a lot of weight and it’s tough on that terrain the first time. He made a mistake mid-race and he just got tired at the end. He looks good afterward.”
