Hello and welcome to tonight’s live blog.
1985 was the last time England managed to beat Ireland, as a team led by Eoin Hand was defeated 2-1.
There are seven games since then. Ireland has won one, one has been abandoned and the rest have been draws.
Stephen Kenny, of course, is yet to win as Ireland’s senior manager, and beating the Three Lions would certainly end this sterile streak in style.
However, with the Irish squad looking a bit drained due to withdrawals, as well as the fact that some players are being booked for upcoming Nations League fixtures, Gareth Southgate’s men start tonight as strong favorites.
