A WOMAN WAS rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter today after she got into trouble while swimming at Greystones, Co Wicklow.
The middle-aged woman was rescued by the helicopter and is believed to be in good condition.
A Garda spokesperson said she was taken to St Vincent Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
A spokesman for the Coast Guard said: “Some people were swimming this afternoon and one had difficulty.”
A member of the public entered the water to try to help the woman in difficulty, trying to give her a flotation device.
They subsequently came out of the water and the woman was rescued by the helicopter.
She was handed over to the ambulance service before being discharged and it is understood that she is in good condition.

The Coast Guard, the National Ambulance Service and gardaí came to the scene today in Greystones.
A Garda spokesman said the incident took place on Marine Road tonight.
“The Coast Guard launched an operation and the person was rescued from the water,” the spokesperson said.
A yellow state rain warning was in effect until 6 p.m. tonight in Wicklow and five other counties.
Heavy and sometimes heavy rains were expected with localized flooding and potentially high river levels.
