Armed Gardai invaded an area of Dublin and intercepted a vehicle yesterday that arrested a man in a mass drug seizure in the capital.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting serious organized crime, five kilograms of ketamine were seized with an estimated street value of 300,000 euros.
Agents from the Garda National Drug and Organized Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) intercepted the vehicle and searched the facility in West Dublin on Tuesday.
The seizure brings the total amount of ketamine seized by Gardai in separate operations in the last 24 hours to 900,000 euros.
The 36-year-old arrested is currently being questioned at the Crumlin Garda station, where he can be held for up to seven days.
A Garda spokesperson added: “No further information is available and investigations are ongoing.”
Speaking about the 600,000 euro ketamine seizure that also took place yesterday, Revenue described it as a major sting in their investigation.
A spokesperson said: “As part of an intelligence-led operation, Treasury officials seized 10 kg of ketamine with an estimated value of 600,000 euros, following a warrant-ordered search of a house in the Crumlin area of Dublin. .
“The seizure was made as a result of a joint intelligence operation led by the Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Office for Drugs and Organized Crime and the Special Crime Force.
“A 26-year-old man who was arrested at the scene is being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Crumlin Garda Station.
“Investigations are ongoing.
“This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations against organized crime groups and the import, sale, and supply of illicit drugs.
