YIKE S.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said there will be a “smooth transition of power to a second Trump administration,” continuing the denial that Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the recent US elections.
Biden won both the popular and electoral college vote after Pennsylvania turned blue, securing the Democratic nominee’s victory and the end of Donald Trump’s reign.
But the Trump campaign refuses to accept defeat. Many unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud have been made, with Trump tweeting countless times about how the postal votes were disproportionately for Biden, after spending months telling his supporters to vote in person that day.
Broadcasters including Fox News, which have been pro-Trump for the past four years, have also cut live broadcasts of Trump and other members of his campaign speaking to the press due to the amount of falsehood in their speeches.
And fears that Trump will not allow a peaceful transition of power have intensified after Pompeo’s comment on Tuesday.
At a press conference, Pompeo was asked, “Is the state department currently preparing to engage with Biden’s transition team? And if not, at what point does it delay or hinder a smooth transition or represent a risk to national security? “
His response was as follows:
“There will be a smooth transition … to a second Trump administration.
“We are ready. The world is watching what is happening and we will count all the votes. When the process is complete, there will be selected voters …
“There is a process, the constitution establishes it quite clearly. The world must have full confidence that the transition necessary to make sure the state department is functional today will be successful and successful with a president in office on 20 May. January, one minute after noon. “
