A man has been arrested after a fatal traffic collision that took place in Kildare yesterday.
A 40-year-old woman was discovered with serious injuries on Thomas Street, Newbridge.
Gardaí arrived at the scene shortly after 8 pm last night.
It is understood that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.
The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Naas General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The 50-year-old man is currently detained at Kildare Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí in Newbridge continues to appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.
They are particularly interested in speaking to any road user who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and who were traveling in the area at the time.
