26-year-old Irishman tragically dies after fall while raising money for charity

A young Irish man tragically died after suffering a fall while jogging to raise money for charity.

Conor Cronin, 26, was helping to raise money for Movember, covering a distance of 60 km for the next several weeks.

He suffered a fall while raising money for Men’s Health, which was running as a team leader for his workplace, the Dublin-based company Edgescan.

Heartbreakingly, Conor later passed away.

In her memory, her family and friends have been sharing the online fundraiser, which has won a staggering € 37,000 so far.

Hundreds of people turned out on Sunday to a vigil for the young man, whose Movember has gone from € 200 to almost € 40,000 and continues to increase since his untimely death.

His brother confirmed the tragic news on his Facebook last night, describing him as an “amazing, funny and witty kid.”

She added: “I’m very lucky to be able to call him my brother. Conor sadly fell down and hit his head while jogging to raise money for the Movember charity.”

Coláiste Árainn Mhóir, a Gaelscoil in Donegal where Conor had attended as a student and leader for many years, also expressed sadness at the news.

They said: “Condolences to the family of Conor Cronin, who passed away suddenly.

“A young gentleman who has sadly died too young and too soon.

“He spent many years on the island as a scholar and leader, may he have the best bed in God’s Heaven.”
