Harry Kane scored his 150th Premier League goal with two minutes remaining to send Tottenham to the top of the table for the first time since August 2014 when they beat West Brom 1-0.
Kane headed home with his historic effort to send the Spurs to the top as they continued their 100% road record this season.
It was his 201st goal for the Spurs and the 13th of the season, and while they can be ousted in a matter of hours, it will give his team the belief that they can fight for the title this season.
Kane’s header was created by a center from Irish international Matt Doherty, who settled a tight game at the Hawthorns where the Spurs, despite starting Kane, Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min in attack, struggled to dominate.
The Baggies will be heartbroken and feel like they deserve a point, but were made to pay for a late defensive slip as the wait for their first Premier League win continues.
The closest they came to scoring was the efforts of Callum Robinson and Dara O’Shea, but they had to pay for some poor results.

With Kane, Bale and Son starting in attack for the first time, Tottenham would have hoped they had the firepower to put their hosts to the sword early on.
It was a promising start and they created a good opportunity to take the lead in the 11th minute when Kane found Tanguy Ndombele, whose header he played at Son, but the South Korean was unusually wasteful and saw his delayed shot blocked by Semi Ajayi.
However, that was the best he could as the Baggies began to take hold and caused problems for Tottenham, particularly on the right.
Karlan Grant couldn’t make proper contact with his header in good position while Jake Livermore sent a shot wide.
His greatest moment of danger came in the 27th minute when Robinson’s center was cleared off the line with Grant waiting to jump.
This was nothing like the Spurs team that had scored 12 goals in their three previous Premier League away games as, despite their presence in attack, they were industrious and struggled to create something clear.
When O’Shea headed in from a corner for the Baggies early in the second half, it looked like it was going to be more of the same, but the Spurs began to take control.
Sergio Reguilon tested Sam Johnstone’s handling with a ferocious shot from distance before Kane had a blocked goal effort.
They continued to press and somehow didn’t take the lead in the 67th minute when Reguilon’s blocked shot landed perfectly on Giovani Lo Celso, but was deflected a short distance.
Substitute Carlos Vinicius forced Johnstone to make a low save with a clean shot around the corner as it looked like the Spurs would be rejected.
But Kane had other ideas and Doherty saw a great late move and England’s captain headed home to set off great scenes of celebration.
