Man charged with murder after body found in Dublin

A man will appear in court on Monday charged with the murder of another man in Dublin yesterday.

Paul Murtagh, 42, was found dead in a home on Auburn Street in Phibsboro, Dublin on Friday afternoon.

He died from his injuries after a serious assault.

He remains in detention pending his appearance before the Dublin District Court.

The man was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday night following the discovery of another man’s body earlier that day.

Gardaí was called to a home on Auburn Street in Phibsboro, Dublin around 2pm yesterday.

They were alerted after a person informed a lawyer that there had been a fight in the house.

There they found the body of Paul Murtagh who had been the victim of a violent assault and had died from his injuries.

Following the autopsy results, a murder investigation was formally launched.

The man was detained at Mountjoy Garda Station and questioned by detectives for 24 hours.

Following consultations with the DPP, he was charged with the murder of Paul Murtagh.

He is being held at Mountjoy Garda Station and is due to appear in Dublin District Court on Monday morning.
