A man has been arrested after the body of another man was discovered in North Dublin this afternoon.
The arrested man, who is in his 40s, is currently being held by gardai after the body of a man in his 40s was found in Phibsborough today.
Gardai remains on the scene tonight along with the man’s body.
The man appears to have suffered several different injuries and may have been the victim of an assault.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí arrested a man in connection with the discovery of the body of a man (40 years old) on Auburn Street, Dublin 7 this afternoon, Friday 6 November 2020.
“The arrested man (40 years old) is currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, on suspicion of murder.
“The Garda Technical Office is conducting a technical examination of the site. The man’s body remains at the site and the services of the State Pathologist have been requested.”
“A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed who is in contact with the family of the deceased.
“Gardaí investigators in Mountjoy are asking anyone with information about this man’s death to contact them at Mountjoy Garda station 01-6668600, the confidential Garda line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station
“Investigations are ongoing.”
