Man arrested on suspicion of murder after body found in Dublin

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of another man was found in a home in Dublin.

Gardai discovered that the victim, who was in her 40s, was unresponsive after being called to the scene on Auburn Street, Phibsborough, shortly after 2 p.m.

Another man, also in his 40s, has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí arrested a man in connection with the discovery of the body of a man (40 years old) on Auburn Street, Dublin 7 this afternoon, Friday 6 November 2020.

“The arrested man (40 years old) is currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, on suspicion of murder.

“The Garda Technical Office is conducting a technical examination of the scene.

“The man’s body remains in place and the services of the State Pathologist have been requested.

“A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed who is in contact with the family of the deceased.

“Gardaí investigators in Mountjoy are asking anyone with information about this man’s death to contact them at Mountjoy Garda station 01-6668600, the confidential Garda line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station

“Investigations are ongoing.”
