Gardai is investigating the discovery of a man’s body in Dublin.

The sinister find was made at a home in Phibsboro on Friday afternoon, and officers treated the case as a suspect.

The man, who was in his 40s, was discovered after the Gardai were called to the scene on Auburn Street at 2 p.m.

The house has been preserved, establishing a crime scene.

The state pathologist has been notified and forensic investigators are ready to begin an examination.

The body remains on the scene.

It is understood that the victim received several injuries before his death and was possibly the victim of assault.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí is currently at the scene of an incident at a residence on Auburn Street, Dublin 7.

“The body of a man was discovered and Gardaí is investigating all the circumstances surrounding his death.

“The stage is currently preserved and the services of the Technical Office have been requested.

“The coroner and the state pathologist’s office have been notified.

“An autopsy will be carried out on the deceased, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

“No further information is available at this time.”
