Arrests in Dublin after gardai seized € 200,000 in cash from a car on a busy motorway

Two men were arrested after Gardai seized € 200,000 in cash from a vehicle on a busy Dublin motorway in the early hours of the morning.

Officers made the discovery following a search for the vehicle on the M4 in West Dublin around 7:30 a.m.

They found cash worth 200,000 euros. The seizure came as part of an ongoing investigation into serious organized criminal activity.

Two men, aged 24 and 47, were arrested for the crime of money laundering in accordance with article 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing) Act 2010.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “Both men are currently detained under article 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Lucan Garda station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
