Joe Biden declared tonight that he is ready to win the American election and proclaimed: “The people will not give up.”
The Democratic presidential candidate said, “I am sure we will be victorious” in an enthusiastic speech in which he promised to rule for all Americans.
He failed to declare victory, but minutes after leaving the stage it was projected that he would win the key state of Michigan.
If Arizona wins, too, as Fox News projects, that would bring Biden to 264 of the 270 Electoral College votes he needs to become the 46th president of the United States.
And Nevada is slated to win tomorrow, which would take it to exactly 270. Biden stated: “I am not here to declare that we have won, but I am here to report that when the count is over, we believe we will be the winners.”
But as Biden crept closer to the White House, Donald Trump vowed to fight tooth and nail against the outcome, launching three separate challenges in three swing states.
The Trump campaign announced that it would challenge the process in all three of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, including the Supreme Court.
In a long-awaited statement in his home state of Delaware, Biden said that “God willing” he would be the fourth challenger in history to defeat a sitting president.
And Biden, who is aiming to win the popular vote, said he was on track to win more than 70 million votes, more than any ballot in the country’s history.
The Democrat said he wanted to “unite, heal, unite as a nation.” He added: “We are campaigning as Democrats, but I will govern as American President.
“The Presidency itself is not a partisan institution. It is the only office in this nation that represents everyone and demands a duty to care for all Americans,” he said.
The Democratic contender made a breakthrough when he was projected to win the red states of Wisconsin and Michigan. Fox News also projected that Arizona would win, taking it to 264 of the 270 Electoral College votes it needs.
His team said they expected to win Nevada tomorrow, which would bring his score to exactly 270.
But the Trump campaign launched a series of challenges to prevent Biden from winning and accused Democrats of “corruption” and “major fraud.”
The Trump campaign falsely declared victory in Pennsylvania even though about a million votes have yet to be counted, and said it was suing to stop the counting of votes in the state.
The Trump team also moved to intervene on Pennsylvania in the Supreme Court. The political center of the Supreme Court has shifted dramatically to the right during Donald Trump’s presidency, including as he replaced liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with conservative Amy Coney Barrett.
President Trump’s campaign manager also said he would “immediately” request a recount in Wisconsin, where Biden’s margin of victory was less than 1%.
And the Trump campaign announced legal action over the Michigan ballot count. Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, stated that “they had not been provided meaningful access to numerous counting locations to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process, as warranted by Michigan law.”
Trump’s son Eric Trump gave a furious press conference in Philadelphia saying “this is outright fraud, we’ve seen it in Philadelphia before, they are trying to make fun of this country’s election.”
He added: “The Democrats know that the only way they can win in this election is by cheating in Pennsylvania.
And we’ve seen it from day one. We find ballots in drainage ditches, they don’t let our election observers see the ballot boxes.
“There is video after video of them passing our collateral material at polling stations throughout Philadelphia.
“They are trying to cheat! They are trying to cheat! They have big 3×5 printed signs at polling places across the city saying to vote for Biden / Harris, which is totally illegal. “
Eric Trump added: “This is rampant corruption and it cannot happen, it is not fair, this is not democracy.”
Also Republican Rudy Giuliani said the ballots by mail “could be from Mars as far as we’re concerned. Or they could be from the Democratic National Committee. Joe Biden could have voted 50 times as far as we know, or 5,000 times.”
He added: “Philadelphia… has a reputation for voter fraud. He has a reputation for dead people who vote. Let’s see how many dead voted here. “
Trump previously claimed that the election was being “stolen” in a “grand fraud”, despite presenting absolutely no evidence that that was the case.

The president said he would go to the Supreme Court to prevent mail-in ballots, which state officials say are completely legitimate, from being counted after Election Day.
Trump has suggested that mail-in ballots are vulnerable to fraud – again, they provide no evidence.
“We want all voting to stop,” he said. “We don’t want them to find ballots at 4 in the morning and add them to the list.”
In his speech tonight, Biden insisted that the power of the Presidency “cannot be taken or affirmed; it flows from the people and it is their will that determines who will be the president of the United States.”
Biden said that “it is clear that we are winning enough states to reach 270 electoral votes,” adding: “Every vote must be counted. No one is going to take away our democracy, not now, not ever,” he said.
“We, the people, will not be silenced.
“We the people will not be intimidated.
“We, the people, will not give up.”
A number of state officials took cover earlier today to insist that they had conducted the elections fairly and freely, and that they would not rest until all valid votes were counted.
The Pennsylvania governor said he will “vigorously defend” himself against any attempt to “attack” the election result.
The state, which has 20 crucial votes in the electoral college, was expected to declare later this week. Biden’s campaign claimed that they hoped to reverse Trump’s huge lead in the state due to vote-by-mail ballots, but added that they could still win the presidency by a hair without it.
