A fisherman tragically died after getting into trouble in the water while working today.
The tragic incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.
Gardai confirmed that the Coast Guard contacted them and informed them that a fisherman had been taken to hospital after getting into trouble in the water.
Tragically he passed away shortly after.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai received reports from the Coast Guard that a fisherman, in his 30s, had been taken to Galway University Hospital after experiencing difficulties while working at sea at approximately 1:30 pm 02/11/2020.
“The man has since passed away. The HSA has been notified.
“Investigations continue.”
