Cork makes seven changes since Kilkenny’s defeat at Croke Park

Only eight from the Cork team, which started Ireland’s quarter-final loss to Kilkenny last year, have been named in the starting lineup for today’s Munster semi-final.

The seven players selected to face Waterford who were not part of Ireland’s quarterfinal squad last year are Damien Cahalane, Colm Spillane, Christopher Joyce, Robert Downey, Tim O’Mahony, Shane Kingston and Aidan Walsh.

There are 11 members of last year’s All-Ireland final winning Tipperary team named in Liam Sheedy’s starting XV for his first championship of 2020. The four players leaving the Tipp team are Séamus Kennedy (injured), Michael Breen, Dan McCormack and John O’Dwyer.

In his place are Sean O’Brien, on the corner; Alan Flynn, in the center of the field; and, in attack, 2018 All-Ireland U21 winners Mark Kehoe and Jake Morris. O’Brien, Kehoe and Morris were featured during the final in Ireland last year.

There is a change in the Limerick team that beat Clare in the Munster quarterfinals last Sunday. Darragh O’Donovan is named in left middle in place of Paddy O’Loughlin.

The Wexford team that will face Galway in today’s Leinster semi-final is exactly the same as the one that started Ireland’s semi-final loss to Tipperary last year.

Four-time All-Star Daithí Burke has been unable to overcome a recent injury and is not included on the Galway matchday panel. His winger position is held by Fintan Burke, who impressed during St Thomas’ successful retention of the Galway SHC title. David Burke is a rare omission in Galway’s starting lineup. The 2017 All-Ireland winning captain is named from the alternates.
